So much chocolate, so little time!

Design Chocolate Day

Is chocolate a food group? Sonny seems to think so.

What to do: Join other chocoholics and indulge in something chocolate.

Inside tip: Remember…chocolate…it’s not just for breakfast anymore.

It’s a breakfast story!  Griddle Creek combines our two loves, breakfast and comics. For those who enjoy mixing fun and adventure, Griddle Creek is the ideal destination. “Spilled Milk” is the third volume in the Griddle Creek Series. We are proud to announce it is now available on Amazon and Createspace.

Pick Your Own Pumpkin!

Design tracktor rideIt is that time of year again. Fall is in the air and residents of Griddle Creek are out picking pumpkins.

What to do: Pick up a pumpkin. Make that new pumpkin recipe you’ve been thinking about trying. Bake a pie or carve a decoration. Try a pumpkin flavored beverage.

Where to do it: Make your way out to the pumpkin farm and pick one out of the patch. In a pinch, the grocery store will do, though not as fun.

Inside tip: Fluffy is clumsy. Don’t stand close to him at the pumpkin farm unless you want splattered pumpkin on you.

It’s National Taco Day!

Design Taco Day

Today is National Taco Day. Tacos are loved and enjoyed by millions every year. The town of Griddle Creek is happy to be among those millions of fans. The whole town comes out to celebrate National Taco Day.

What to do: Go out for tacos. Pop into your favorite taco joint and purchase a few for you and your friends. If the mood strikes, you can stay home and prepare homemade tacos. The number of taco fillings is practically endless. Have some fun with it.

Where to do it: Tacos are the perfect travel food so they can be enjoyed any and everywhere. On the street. In the car. On the way to get another taco. Take time today to share a taco.

Inside tip: In Griddle Creek the best spot for tacos is the Taco Truck. Be sure to follow them on social media so you know where the truck will be parked. Even Sonny can’t deny they make the best tacos in town. He has tried to duplicate the taste at the Sunnyside Diner but he hasn’t come close.

It’s Game Day!

Design Game day

It’s game day! Grab your favorite snacks, invite some friends over, and cheer for your favorite team. A good host makes sure their guests are comfortable and provided refreshments. However, if the host has a special treat he or she wants to make sure ends up on their plate we suggest they set some aside early. The game is at Caffe’s place this week. He went to the Sunnyside Diner and picked up everybody’s favorite wings. His guests have arrived and the game has started. Caffe makes the rookie mistake of setting out Sonny’s fire grilled buffalo wings before disappearing into the kitchen to mix up some drinks. He returns minutes later to find the wings have been inhaled! He’s kicking himself because he knows better. Caffe throws the challenge flag but it is not upheld. Upon further review, there is no foul on the play, second down!

First in Line!

Design Book Release

Things are normal around town. The residents are out and about enjoying their day. Fluffy visits the local book store in search of some new reading material. It is good timing on his part because the book store is having a sale. A poster in the window catches his eye but unfortunately, this title is not available yet. The clerk at the register advises Fluffy the selection, Griddle Creek: Sugar Rush, will not be available until the 15th. Fluffy thanks the clerk and leaves the store, only to return 20 minutes later.

What to do: Fluffy returns to the book store with a tent and sleeping bag. He promptly begins to set up a base camp outside of the store. Fluffy plans to camp out so he is first in line on the 15th.

Where to do it: On the sidewalk, outside of the book store, in everybody’s way.

Insider Tip: When Fluffy makes his mind up to do something there is no talking him out of it. He has an amazing amount of willpower.

Labor Day Cookout!

Design PicnicIt is Labor Day weekend. If you are in Griddle Creek, come out and experience some of the local community events taking place around town.

What to do: A popular annual event is the Labor Day Cookout. The residents come together to enjoy some of the best food, drinks, and music around. The event is free to the public to attend. Don’t feel like packing a picnic basket? No worries, there is no shortage of food and beverage vendors. Walk the park trails, meet new friends, or just relax under a tree. The Labor Day Cookout is the place to be.

Where to do it: The Labor Day Cookout is held at the beautiful Fryer Park. There are other events taking place but this one is by far the most popular. It is easy to find but if you get lost just follow the crowd because that is most likely where they are headed. For the more active visitors, there is room to throw the Frisbee around, play volleyball, or spark up a game of touch football. It is a day filled with food and family fun.

Insider Tip: All the locals know the best barbeque comes out of Christie’s smoker. Christie does not mind sharing but whatever you do, do not touch her smoker. You’ll need to butter her up first. To get in her good graces I suggest you ask her about her wood chips or compliment her on her smoker, she likes that.
