Labor Day Cookout!

Design PicnicIt is Labor Day weekend. If you are in Griddle Creek, come out and experience some of the local community events taking place around town.

What to do: A popular annual event is the Labor Day Cookout. The residents come together to enjoy some of the best food, drinks, and music around. The event is free to the public to attend. Don’t feel like packing a picnic basket? No worries, there is no shortage of food and beverage vendors. Walk the park trails, meet new friends, or just relax under a tree. The Labor Day Cookout is the place to be.

Where to do it: The Labor Day Cookout is held at the beautiful Fryer Park. There are other events taking place but this one is by far the most popular. It is easy to find but if you get lost just follow the crowd because that is most likely where they are headed. For the more active visitors, there is room to throw the Frisbee around, play volleyball, or spark up a game of touch football. It is a day filled with food and family fun.

Insider Tip: All the locals know the best barbeque comes out of Christie’s smoker. Christie does not mind sharing but whatever you do, do not touch her smoker. You’ll need to butter her up first. To get in her good graces I suggest you ask her about her wood chips or compliment her on her smoker, she likes that.
