National Cheeseburger Day!

Design Chesseburger

The town of Griddle Creek is celebrating Cheeseburger Day.

What to do: Stop into your favorite place and order yourself a cheeseburger. The options range from the high-end at The Maple Hotel through to the more budget friendly at the Burger Manor.

Where to do it: The two most popular places in town with the locals are the Sunnyside Diner and Burger Manor. If you’re trying to decide, Burger Manor is a fast food establishment so you may save some time. However, for taste, the Sunnyside Diner is definitely the better option. The Sunnyside Diner has a cheeseburger special going today. Come in for the burgers and stay for the pie.

Inside tip: Don’t let it slip to Sonny or Christie that you eat at Burger Manor unless you want to start something you can’t finish.

Mission Uncomfortable!

Design Book Release 2

It has been a full week and Fluffy is still camped outside of the bookstore. He is still determined to be first in line for the Griddle Creek book release this week. He thought the line would be longer. Either way, he is ahead of those slackers who plan on showing up at the last minute. Camping is fun but he is definitely ready to go home and sleep in his own bed. Fluffy’s list of things to do in the morning reads as follows:
• Buy the book.
• Take a shower.
• See a chiropractor.

Positive Vibes!

Design Positive Thinking Day

Today is National Positive Thinking Day! If you are new to Positive Thinking Day, it is a day set aside each year to concentrate on all things positive. Residents of Griddle Creek are taking time out to concentrate on the good stuff. Positive feelings and thoughts are for good for mental and physical health. So, join the Griddle Creek residents in spreading some positive vibes today.

What to do: If you are not sure what to do to celebrate, here are a few suggestions to set the tone.
• Say some positive affirmations.
• Hang around with positive people.
• Show gratitude for the simple things in life.
• Read or watch positive, motivational books and movies.
• Be kind to someone today.
• Simply smile.

Where to do it: Any and everywhere. Begin thinking about the good stuff and chase those pessimistic thoughts from your head. Encourage someone to be optimistic today.

Insider tip: Positive vibes are contagious. You’ll be much more fun to be around.

Labor Day Cookout!

Design PicnicIt is Labor Day weekend. If you are in Griddle Creek, come out and experience some of the local community events taking place around town.

What to do: A popular annual event is the Labor Day Cookout. The residents come together to enjoy some of the best food, drinks, and music around. The event is free to the public to attend. Don’t feel like packing a picnic basket? No worries, there is no shortage of food and beverage vendors. Walk the park trails, meet new friends, or just relax under a tree. The Labor Day Cookout is the place to be.

Where to do it: The Labor Day Cookout is held at the beautiful Fryer Park. There are other events taking place but this one is by far the most popular. It is easy to find but if you get lost just follow the crowd because that is most likely where they are headed. For the more active visitors, there is room to throw the Frisbee around, play volleyball, or spark up a game of touch football. It is a day filled with food and family fun.

Insider Tip: All the locals know the best barbeque comes out of Christie’s smoker. Christie does not mind sharing but whatever you do, do not touch her smoker. You’ll need to butter her up first. To get in her good graces I suggest you ask her about her wood chips or compliment her on her smoker, she likes that.

Go Long!

Design Football 2

For those that enjoy exercising in the crisp air Griddle Creek is the place to be. You will feel a world away with the mountains as your backdrop. There are also a lot of community events taking place around town.

What to do: It is a perfect day to head out to Funfetti Field and toss around the football. You do not need to put on helmets, cleats, or shoulder pads to have some fun. Grab your play clothes and head out onto the field.

Where to do it: Funfetti Field is a popular spot for residents of Griddle Creek, especially during this time of year. Start your own game or just watch several of the games already going on. Sonny starts doing jumping jacks to warm up on the 30-yard line. Fluffy starts doing body stretches. Christie looks at them both while giving them the hardest eye roll. It is not a professional game, all of this just to throw the ball around? None of this is going to make them play any better either. They play on the field for fun but those two are dedicated to their full warm up routines like they were professional players in a playoff game. Christie plays quarterback because she has the best arm. Sonny and Fluffy take turns playing wide receiver and cornerback. After several dropped passes, Sonny is determined to catch the next one. The pass is up, a perfect spiral, and it is right on target. Sonny aka butterfingers is determined to make the catch this time. Wait, oh no, it is intercepted!

Insider Tip: If you display any kind of athletic prowess on Funfetti Field, Sonny may ask you to join his flag football team. We suggest you politely decline, he is a sore loser. The grass is green, the air is crisp, and you will have a great time whether you play on his team or against it.

What’s this blog thing all about?

It’s here, my very first blog post. I’m new to blogging but I hope to catch on quickly.  I’m discovering that there are so many great blogs already out there and I’m sure many more that have yet to be created.  I am happy to be a part of the community.  I started this blog as an outlet to have some fun through comics and humor.  I plan to use this blog primarily to post and discuss content related to the Griddle Creek book series. Thanks so much for visiting.
